Do you have a love for music? You can be a vital part of the Aurora Symphony Orchestra as a volunteer at our concerts and events.
No musical experience necessary – just a passion for sharing the arts with our community.
The Aurora Symphony Board of Directors is open to all individuals wishing to make a difference in our community. Each member is asked to serve a two (2) year term on the board. The ASO board meets monthly to guide the organization and ensure the continuity of the program, it’s musical leadership and financial stewardship.
The Aurora Symphony processes our own ticketing through various online resources and vendors. Additionally, support is needed at each concert, to sell tickets for walk-in patrons, and distribute “Will Call” tickets sold in advance.
Most concerts of the Aurora Symphony are general seating and patrons do not require assistance locating assigned seats; however, we do like to have a couple individuals available to help those patrons who may have limited mobility, or questions about the venue or ASO organization.
Making our patrons and guests feel welcome is very important to us! As a patron greeter, you are the first point of contact for visiting guests, and fulfill a vital role, helping to ensure their visit is comfortable and rewarding. Patron Greeters may help in a variety of ways by guiding guests to ticket sales, distributing concert programs / literature or pointing out venue locations such as restrooms and refreshments, etc.
A back stage assistant helps with the non-performance logistics of staging a concert. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys physical activity! Activities may include: Moving large instruments, chairs, music stands, assisting with load-in / load-out before and after the performance, and many other activities.
Want something that fits into your schedule that you can do from home, or in your own neighborhood? Be a part of our Promotional Team! Getting the word out about the ASO is a year-round project, and can easily fit into any schedule. Activities range from: posting upcoming events to online community calendars, distributing flyers to libraries, coffee shops and community bulletin boards, helping staff a booth at community event, or just helping get the word out to everyone one you know, and inviting as many people as possible!
Do you have a special skill such as website design, graphic design, or marketing talent? Let us know! We are always look for new ways to spread to word about the ASO!
The annual Young People’s Concerts are (by far) our most highly attended performances of each season! On average attendance tops 900 – 1,000 people, with a large portion of those in attendance under the age of 10. To help spur their imagination for music and art, we offer activity tables for our young patrons to get hands on with music-related fun! These activities may range from making a paper towel roll maraca, to coloring their own portrait of an orchestra, or playing with fun tactile instruments that allow them to create their own music!
