Jeremy Cuebas
Artistic Director / Principal Conductor
Jeremy D. Cuebas is a conductor, teacher, and arts leader based in Colorado. He is the founding Music Director of the Denver Rock Orchestra and serves the Fort Collins Symphony as its Assistant Conductor and Digital Communications Director. Jeremy is also the host of the Podium Time Podcast. His work on and off the podium is focused on community engagement, conductor training, and helping arts organizations connect with new audiences.
Since its founding in 2021, the Denver Rock Orchestra has grown from 16 to over 50 musicians and performed sold-out concerts at alternative venues in Denver. The group features vocalists, drums, electric bass, keyboard, and a full symphony orchestra. By performing pop and rock music with a symphony, the DRO hopes to connect with audiences that wouldn’t otherwise experience the sound and energy of a live orchestra.
Jeremy’s passion is helping orchestras, communities, and audiences connect to music in new and deeper ways. He does this through innovative programming, community-focused strategic planning, and connecting with new audiences. As the Digital Communications Director for the Fort Collins Symphony, Jeremy expanded the orchestra’s engagement with its community through content that helps make classical music more accessible.
Through the Podium Time Podcast, Jeremy seeks to help conductors develop as musicians and as community leaders. In 2022, Podium Time began a long-term research project focused on how conductors can help to build back audiences after the Covid-19 Pandemic. The podcast celebrated its 100th episode in February 2021 with a live-streamed fundraiser for the Project Inclusion Conducting Fellowship with the Chicago Sinfonietta.
Through conducting workshops and festivals, Jeremy has studied conducting with Brett Mitchell, Kevin Noe, Larry Rachleff, Markand Thakar, Donald Schleicher, Sarah Ioannides, Gary Lewis, Larry Livingston, Harold Farberman, Apo Hsu, Nicholas Carthy, Lawrence Golan, Eduardo Navega, and Gianmaria Griglio. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in music theory and composition from Missouri State University and his Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from Colorado State University with Wes Kenney.
Jeremy lives in Loveland, Colorado with his wife Crisara, their dog Daisy, and their crested gecko named Skeeter. He enjoys reading sci-fi and personal development books, weightlifting, and doing yoga while watching horror movies.
