Hear and see how the music is made! Pull back the curtain with your Aurora Symphony to learn how orchestras, conductors, and composers work together to create music for concerts, movies, tv, and video games.

Program Repertoire:

Mr. Smith’s Composition by Gregory Smith

Marriage of Figaro Overture – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Symphony No. 3 – mvt. 3 (excerpt) – Johannes Brahms

Mr. Smith’s Composition takes the audience on a hilarious and educational romp into the mind of Mr. Smith as he composes.

Included in the journey are the many decisions a composer makes. There is also a bout of writer’s block and even a composer’s nightmare. The solution for Mr. Smith’s issues is to invoke the refrain: “so I decided to write what I felt in my heart.” The audience is drawn into the process by helping to choose the final ending by following their hearts as well.

The ASO Young People’s Concerts are free for all ages and are designed to engage young minds in a welcoming and accessible environment. They are an excellent first-concert experience and will give you and your whole family a love and curiosity for music.
